As well as the celebrated 2005 Grammy-winning American musician Tim O’Brien, who as Ian Smith’s personal “special guest” contributed backing vocals, mandolin and guitar tracks, we also experience the supportive musicianship of a range of superb musician colleagues such as Beo Brockhausen (various wind instruments), Hans-Jörg Maucksch (bass), Jens Kommnick (who played his guitar parts live with Ian Smith in the studio) and Manfred Leuchter (accordion), who have once again lifted the already beautiful song material to a yet higher level.

The album "Pearl Diver" (2004) marked the beginning of an extremely fruitful cooperation between the American song poet David Roth and Günter Pauler from Stockfisch Records. Talking about his first encounter with the Chicago singer/songwriter David Roth, Pauler said at that time: "I was impressed by how he takes up vastly different topics with a self-confident intuition and turns them into works of art".

This hasn't changed at all after 16 years, and David Roth still shines with his newest album "Meet You Where You Are", which is released by Stockfisch Records on SACD as an audiophile-masterpiece and is a collection of wonderful songs from different periods of Roth's life between 1990 and 2018.

"Rediscovering the tapes of this production after such a long time brought back memories
of how I first met Chris Jones: it was thanks to Charlie Carr, at that time working at an
army-shop in Southern Germany, who acquired for me a Crown DC-300 - the sensational
power amplifier of that time. As a way of thanking him, I offered him to do a recording at our
studio. Charlie was thrilled and brought Chris Jones with him, who was to accompany
him during the recording sessions. Thus began our wonderful musical journey with Chris

Chris Jones visited Stockfisch Records for the first time in 1982, recording his first album "No Looking Back". The vinyl renaissance of our days makes it possible: "No Looking Back" is published again in 2017 as a vinyl record.

In 1982, a 24-year-old guitarist named Chris Jones came to our studio in Northeim to record 10 songs for his first album. On a 2" tape recorder and mixer: Günter Pauler. It was already common practice for studios to invite studio musicians for some musical and sounding contributions: Oss Rentz (Hein & Oss) with vocals, John Heinrich at the pedal steel, Wojtek Bolimowski on the violin, Hans-Jörg Maucksch with his Fretless bass.At that time, the marvelously creative collaboration between Stockfisch-Records and the ingenious guitarist Chris Jones began - and it should last more than two decades.

When Chris Jones's CD "moonstruck" was produced at Stockfisch in the winter of '99/2000, we decided to add the meanwhile out of print album "No Looking Back" to this album as Bonus-CD. On the occasion of the release Chris wrote: "My first LP (yes, it was before CDs existed!)" No Looking Back "is included in it's digitally re-mastered form 1982, other than me getting old and fat. The songs are still personal (maybe even more so, I've lived and learned a lot in these 17 years) and the music means just as much. "

Who would have thought that in 2017 it would be possible to publish these wonderful 10 titles again as a long-playing record? The current vinyl renaissance makes it possible.
